New tool: ABC Tin Whistle Fingering Player

Load, paste, or type ABC tunes and play them with synchronized standard notation, optional D-whistle tablature, and a large live whistle fingering display that follows the notes during playback. It also supports adjustable tempo, multiple tunes in a file, selectable octave/note-name display styles, clickable notation for editing, saving, and sharing of tunes.

New Playback and Note Display Features

Added several new practice and playback features:

* Mute Melody lets you mute the tin whistle melody while continuing to hear the metronome and, when present, chord and bass accompaniment.

* Count in provides a five-second countdown before playback begins.

* Metronome adds a meter-appropriate click during playback.

* Show note optionally displays the currently playing pitch as standard musical notation below the note name in the fingering display.

The Metronome, Count in, and Show note settings are remembered in the browser.

These are really superb updates. The tool is really useful thanks.

I am likely being blind, but can you tell me how to change the BPM.

I can see the BPM shown but cannot see how to change it to slow the playback down

Doh! Sorry I just realised it is the 100% field. I think I had thought that was a view percentage. Just me being a bit thick - sorry!

Yes, just click that box and it will bring up a tempo percentage setting dialog.

That’s explained in the instructions. I’ve now added an image of the box to the instructions in the tool to avoid confusion.

I’ve also added a dedicated Tempo button to the notation pane header. Both the Tempo button and clicking in the tempo area of the play bar do the same thing, bring up the tempo dialog.

And Michael just added an option to view and image of the note on the staff below the note name. Seeing this as you go can help you learn to read staff notation. After all you are likely to be playing this tune a bizaillion times. HaHa

Wow that is amazing customer service! Thank you

You’re most welcome!

Clicking a note in the rendered notation now selects the corresponding note in the ABC editor and displays its fingering in the instrument pane. This makes it easier to inspect individual notes and quickly see how each note is played without starting playback.
