Files are too big for C&S, so I’ll post them here as usual -
Played on an Adrian Jefferies D and Eugene Lambe Drones.

For some reason, Jenny’s Wedding doesn’t play. The other reels are fine… nice playing David. ![]()
Both files played fine for me.
Whoa. Enormous bass hum on there. Nice playing, though.

WOW! Nice playing there! Thanks for posting these! I got both of them just fine, by the way.
Nice tunes, but why so fast in Jenny’s Wedding?
Very impressive! Thanks for posting those clips! Any chance you could post the tunes in their entirety?
Peace!

Why do you think it is too fast?
I’m just listening to too much Brian McNamara lately. Give me a few days listening to Paddy Keenan and I’ll be giving out that the same tune is too slow. ![]()
Thank you everyone. Sorry about any technichal hitches you may experience - dinosaur PC and $5 PC mic perhaps to blame. I had to chop the files back because I’m only hosting them on my ISP’s free web space which only allows 10mb and prior to posting the tunes I only had 8.5mb space left.
Cheers,
DavidG
Thanks. 'Round here we call bass hum ‘drones’. ![]()

We call it interference, or sometimes induced noise. Check to make sure there are no power cords touching or anywhere near your mic or mic cable. You may have filters turned on on your PC that you can’t hear it, but there is a decidedly loud deep bass hum on the recordings that suggest 60 Hz interference from a power cable.
djm
What are you listening to the tunes on? You had this problem last tunes I posted. No one else to date has reportedly experienced it. I’ve moved power cords, turned off filters - not that I had any to turn on in the first place
, played the files up very loudly and still get no hum. Still, I’ll keep looking.

No hum problem here.
The one tune that works for me sounds perfect.
No probs with either of the files except that funny D note hum ![]()
Jenny’s wedding did seem a bit quick, but I’m just jealous.
I’d have liked to hear a bit more of Lord McDonalds too.
Djimbo.
Firstly very nice playing.
I listened and thought I agreed with, then eventually disagreed with djm about the hum. I think it’s possible to mentally tune it out so since I was in SONAR I imported the mp3 and found that there is some mains hum - it’s right at 50hz which makes sense since that’s what’s used down under. If you EQ it out it’s very obvious when it’s not there.
You also have a lot of DC offset which is common with PC sound cards (that may also the source of the mains hum)
Happy new year
I’m convinced that there is no doubt something there, although on my piddly little system it doesn’t show up. When I get more serious about recording I’ll upgrade for the purpose.
Thanks for the complements. It was 38Celcius (about 40F??) the day I recorded it, about 90% humidity and my room had no aritconditioning, so that could account for any excessive speed - just couldn’t wait to get out and cool down under the shower ![]()

I just did a comparison with Paddy Keenan’s and Leo Rowsome’s versions and it turns out I am a tad slower than Keenan and a tad faster than Rowsome. Since it is Rowsome/Clancy from whom I draw my inspiration, I shall endeavour to slow down. I blame too many gigs with raging flute players ![]()

…here 'tis then…
plus a bonus track

Sound’s a bit honky on these ones.
