tunebooks

Hi Gang–

Here’s a great idea: tunebooks that are about checkbook
size, spiral bound, arranged by type of music!

These are Irish tunes–you can see them at http://layton.esmartweb.com/index.htm

I just got mine and they are really nice…they are about $3.50 per
book, $7.00 for the accompanying CD, and a single price if you
order the whole set of books and CDs. The guys who publish these
are musicians, and the tunes are very standard tunes.

I get no renum…remun…kickback from this announcement, I
just am very pleased with the product and thought I’d share.

Terrific idea! Anyone in the US carrying these?

I don’t think anyone in the US carries them yet…I was the first US customer. I ordered by e-mail, used my credit card, and they got here in short order.

When I went to this site, something started to download into my computer.

Did this happen to anyone else?

Other then that…It looks like a helpful tool.

I would like to see them sold in the US. I am the type of person who likes to take a look at the product before purchasing them.

Perhaps these books could be sold at Irish Festivals here in the US.

That’s a hint for some of you vendors.

However… nothing can replace memorizing a tune and learning it from ear.

It appears that “suggested chords” are not provided with the bare melody line, making it a little less desirable for those that play multiple instruments or would share with others in a group. Good to learn of these & enjoyed the info, but for me, despite having TUBAMY (TuneBook Acquisition Malady), I’m content to stick with the excellent L.E. McCullough tunebook & CDs, as well as the Mel Bay tunebooks & CDs.

I just ordered mine…went thru Paypal. 5 books and 9 CD’s for $57 US. Ian says the CD’s are high quality but on the quiet side. I usually use the head set anyway. Gm
