The very first ever Irish Practice Chanter, Mouthblown

Well ?

Ta!

Supposedly, if it’s mouth blown then it’s not an uillean chanter. It’s a different reed and everything.

RUN AWAY!!!

This thing has been around for years. Absolute crap. Do not be mislead! This thing has N-O-T-H-I-N-G to do with Irish bagpipes in the slightest!

If you want to learn the instrument, then learn it. No easy ways around that rule. I know firsthand.

Thanks. I got a similar feeling from the Pipes Forum on the FAQ.

I love the sound of the Irish Pipes ( couldn’t be bothered to spell Uilleann  ), but too poor/lazy to buy and learn the pumping/squeezing part.
I do have lots of hot air to spare though!

Then you’re perfect raw material for the flute or the whistle

Song of the Sea also sells one, and you can order a tunable drone thingy (like a slide whistle) to go with.

About only useful thing the whole contraption is good for is learning the grip and fingering scales.

I agree-if you want pipes, go with a practice set. Unless you want to buy MY Irish pipe chanter with a drone thingy.

There’s a lot of discussion in the archives on this.

I heard that.
