the new Lunasa book on lunasa.ie

Hi all

Been a long time since posting. Has anyone else gotten the new Lunasa book that is on their website that has all the music in it (with a section specifically for guitar too)?
I am considering ordering it, but dont know if their will be any hidden charges since it’s coming from the UK to the US. I figure at 12 pounds (@ $18.50) this is a good deal, especially since I play whistle and guitar.

thanks for any feedback,

Worst you’re looking at is a VAT charge of 17.5% (which they shouldn’t charge you if you’re in the USA). If it’s included already in the price, then they should deduct it.
You’ll also pay a customs duty fee into the US, which won’t be much. You’ll pay that to the US officials (sometimes Post Office takes care of it), not to the Lunasa guys. Then of course, shipping is more expensive from there to here than the other way around.
I say go for it! (then again, they could mark it as a gift and that’s that)

I ordered the book for my daughter. Total price was 12 pounds, that includes shipping. Very affordable. Should be arriving sometime this week. Remember though kids that this is not the way to learn tunes. Use your ears first, the eyes are merely supplemental backup. Plus, unless you want a dyed in the wool traditionalist to jump all over you, don’t tell them you’re learning tunes the way Lunasa plays them. Non-traditional settings don’t you know. They probably said the same thing about the Bothy Band. Anybody play the Kesh jig lately?

Regarding custom duty fees, I’ve ordered CDs from the UK and a wood flute and have never been asked to pay customs. I’m either lucky or customs has Dave’s name in a special data base. Maybe businesses get stuck more than individuals?

Of course I realize that many of their tunes are fired-up a bit from the possible trad composition, but I like it that way too. Also, since I am a guitarist of 12 years this Christmas, it still is good to have the parts for guitar 'cause I know some of the tunings are different than just DADGAD too. Not to mention, Lunasa are awesome band, and I would like the book!

Thanks for the comments!
Eric

hullo,
All the tunings are different from dadgad (i assume)! Donogh plays only in double drop D, so I assume that for better or for worse thats what the book will focus on. he rocks very hard.
