New Lúnasa book.

Maybe I have come in too late with this and you already know (I have been away from the forum for a while).
Anyway I have just received the new music book by Lúnasa and had to tell you about it!

It is a real improvement on the last one (although that did the trick too) quality and layout is very impressive and as more of a music fan than player it is still a good item to have as there are lots of bits in about the tunes etc. My only gripe is why did it take so long after the last one…?

I have just realised I am writing in the flute forum (must be a subconscious decision as it is my favourite instrument) but should be writing in the pipes forum as the book was put together by Cillian Vallely…I better put a message in there so as not to upset him…that is if he reads this!

Anyway if you are looking for a nice pressie for any trad friends this Christmas - I can recommend it!
I am always dubious of buying items other than CD’s from web sites as I like to get a look at them first but this was better than expected.

Not sure if you can get it from shops or any where other than from the band directly - would be great to see it ‘out there’.

Looks a bit expensive, but I liked the old one a lot. Although, when I got the old one I hadn’t sworn to learning by ear only. Plus it is pretty expensive at 17 pounds, I can’t afford that.

Are there many tunes that are not available on the internet, like in www.thesession.org?

I thought it was a little expensive but was prepared to buy and see if I was getting value for my money…I was!
It is way better quality than any of the other tune books out there and you can see alot of work and thought have gone into it.

There are more tunes than are in some of the comparable efforts for example, Sharon Shannon’s tune book and the lads have obviously stepped it up quality wise from their own last book which had good content but might not last the test of time like this one.

I think it is great when a band or artist do something a little different…definetly makes it a bit more interesting for us as customers!

Treat yourself…your are worth it! :thumbsup:
