Have you searched the archives? We’ve done this one thoroughly before. ![]()
Seriously, I’m happy to play this game again. It’s one we never get tired of. Currently, my Overton Eb, Bb and low F, Copeland low D and Burke AlPro C and low G.
My current favourites are my new Sindt’s in Eb and D (they arrived last week, and just get even better the more I become acquainted with them!),Bernard Overton ‘G’,Colin Goldie ‘F’,Generation brass Bb(I kid you not),Tony Dixon ‘F’ (for it’s mellow sound- a great ‘after hours’ whistle).
Favorite D whistle: Hoover Whitecap.
Favorite C whistle: Golden Tone.
Favorite fictitious whistle: Waldentone.

Generation D.
Depending on the song, Oak D or Clarke Original D
(I like cheap whistles
)
Favorite inexpensive: Oak, by a wide margin.
Favorite expensive: toss-up between Parkhurst and Cronnolly
Best,

Generation Bb!
And Overton Low F for playing Lunasaish duets with Jens. For we all love Lunasa (That’s a given)

My current favorite whistle is a Copperhead retrofit head on a brass Feadóg D tube.

Current top favorite: Elf Song Coppertone C/D combo
1st runner up: Cillian O Briain “improved” Feadog
2nd runner up: Dixon tuneable w/brass tuning slide.
Redwolf
Copeland low G; Copeland low D.
Inexpensive D: Clare
E, Bb, and A: Water Weasel
D: It’s a tossup between Thin Weasel, Wilson (evidently I got a good one), Burke WBB, and Bleazey boxwood
C: Thin Weasel by a longshot
low-G: Burke AlPro
low-E: Burke composite
low-D: Copeland by a longshot (and three months ago I thought the Burke AlPro was the only low-D out there for me)
I have four inexpensive whistles all in D. Waltons, Susato, Clarke Sweetone, Clarke Original, and Clarke Meg. My favorite is the Clarke Meg
James,
The Cronnolly you’re talking about, is it the heavy duty whistle in delrin? I tried it once and, well, let’s say that Susato is a quiet whistle compared to it. I’m surprised that it’s your favorite whistle.
Burke Brass Pro Session D
Abell Madagascar Rosewood d.

Currently: Copeland soprano D, Bflat and Low G; Abell delrin D, Bflat blackwood; O’Riordan Low G; Elfsong D; WW C and A; Walton Golden Tone C.
Now who’s going to search all these threads to conduct a longitudinal study as to how individuals’ favorites have changed over time? Not me. And leave Jessie out; she’s certainly not fickle with respect to her Abell Madagascar D.
Regards,
Philo
Phil, there were two incidents where I was so enthusiastic about a new whistle (Rose once, O’Riordan the second time) that I doubted my Abell for a few minutes. Luckily, I came to my senses each time before the Abell whistle knew about it!
