Ok, I must admit it, Swayne whistles are my new craze , I love their sound and playing characteristics.
But then again, they’re pretty hard to find and Jon’s waiting list is a real “waiting list” indeed. Now if there’s a place to search for some, it’s right here on the board of course. So if you have a Swayne to sell, please send me a PM or a mail, will you?
Avery, I haven’t been shopping for whistles on ebay, so I’m oblivious.
Claus, I just realized that my contact info may have changed since I ordered from Mr. Swayne, so it’s possible my wait is not representative. BTW, I’m planning a trip to Germany, in mid-late October - still have some details to work out (and there’s always Mr. Murphy about), but who knows, perhaps we’ll run into eachother…
tell you what, the D is truly beautiful, a sweet and fast player, but I do like the C even better ! Great backpressure, that allows you to play with a lot of expression. And the lower notes really stand their ground without any weakness in the tone. By all means it’s my favourite C-whistle now, and I tried (and love) quite a lot of Cs.
So again, all you Swayne-owners, who want to get rid of them, here’s your man .
Forgive me being that insisting. But where to ask for a Swayne if not here. So I hate to see this thread wonder off into oblivion too soon, and some Swayne-owner maybe never seeing it.
I doubt there’s anyone out there who still plays whistles who’d be willing to part with them. Just email Jon, tell him what you have, and ask for one of everything else. I know there are a few out there (Loren, for example) who wouldn’t mind one more person on the notorious waiting list for a low-D. One more just might be the critical mass to justify making a batch. If you search the forum for remarks on Swayne low-D’s, it’s almost like reading about bigfoot or nessie or yehti.
And guess, who’s on Jon’s list for quite a while now … . So it will turn out a question of patience in the end - and admittedly, I’m not very good at that .
