Some dandy tooters on eBay. Go get 'em!

I have put three of my best whistles on eBay in order to fund a coming Flute (does it never end? )

They are all magnificent.

Good lord those are nice whistles! I wish I had some bucks right now :frowning: Someone ought so snag these whistles in a hurry.
Best,
Chris

Yeah I’ll hate to see them go. They really are tremendous tooters.

Both the Copeland and the Overton are the best I’ve ever played. I’ve owned 3 Copelands and 3 Overtons (all were fabulous).

The Overton is notably sweeter (purer) in tone than most. It also has slightly less back pressure than the others I’ve had without sacrificing volume or power.

One note on the Bb Sindt. It performs very well with 0XX000 fingering for C-nat…no wait it’s not C-nat on a Bb whistle it’s…well anyway whatever note it is on a Bb it sounds great with 0XX0000 fingering.

Just a note to say I had the Overton before Doc and what he says is true. I’ve played a number of Overton high Ds at the Hobgoblin Shop in Red Wing Minnesota and none of them had the sound of this one. Nice and round and once I got used to the back pressure (an Overton characteristic)I found it easy to play.

You can’t go wrong dealing with Doc.

Now why did I get rid of that red Overton…now I remember, to get the best whistle I’ve owned(so far): THE BLACK WEASEL

jim

interesting…my blue overton has the same finish flaw as your red one. I wonder why such a vaunted whistle is being sold with this albeit cosmetic flaw? I mean the only reason for the anodizing that I can see is cosmetics, so why would it be marketted like this?

Hey Doc!
It’s a good thing that they aren’t low whistles…I’d have to empty my bank account!

Skywatcher,

Last I checked, Doc had invested in one of those new fangled whistle stretchers. What key do you want it to be in?

jim

If you talk real nice, he’ll give you a discount on the modification…or at least he said that’s what he did for me.

jim

Speaking of whistle stretching…has anyone looked at the curved whistles Colin Goldie has made…wild!

Incidently, I talked with Colin for a long time on the phone the other day. He’s really a fine fellow.

My god, that means it’s my old Overton now on ebay…! It’s funny following its progress around the world.

I think it would be cool to start a tradition of sending a little “line of ownership” list with whistles that get sold/swapped. I think we’d all be amazed what a small world it is.

Doc

I’d love that. I know a couple of my whistles are from Loren, indirectly, and one had four different board owners. Kinda neat.
