SOLD: Flutes of Different Materials and in Different Keys

For Sale: Flutes of Different Materials and in Different Keys

The following flutes are offered for your consideration:

From left to right:

M&E flute in Eb, this is really fun flute, I don’t know if it is due to the shorter finger spacing, higher pitch of faster response, it is just plain Fun! Found a new home already.

George Cloos in the key of F made of Cocus with a single F# key. This one is an absolute lark to play, incredibly easy and almost effortless. It’s not a real powerhouse, but has a very nice tone. I repaired a small crack in the head socket and filled in some knots and dings (strictly for cosmetic purposes). Found a new home.

Bamboo D flute with lip-plate, bindings and a C nat. Thumbhole by Tombu. This is the best bamboo flute I’ve ever played with a very nice mellow tone. This flute cracked at the embouchure when Tom was making it (under lip-plate), he repaired it and it is stronger that original. Transferred to our St. Louis Warehouse.

World’s Best Flute! Included for scale purposes only!

Hammy D Practice Flute, this flute is amazing! It’s got chiff and edge to the tone and lightning quick response, along with good intonation throughout 2 octaves. This is one of Hammy’s new flutes, he has supposedly refined them. Every time I play this flute, I remember my old Low D ALBA, this doesn’t sound as breathy. Transferred to our St.Louis Warehouse.

Feel free to ask questions and make offers. Trades will be considered and check back, because if items don’t sell I’ll keep dropping the price till they do! Please inquire via Email or PM.

Hey CrookedTune,

If you keep practicing your breathing exercises, the Hammy could also convert your regular bath into a Jacuzzi!

Quick, look busy, our Corporate CEO is here!

I had inquiries about the George Cloos F flute.

So here ya go:

It was made in the mid to late 19th century in Brooklyn NY. Geoge Cloos was famous for his fifes, which were the standard during the Civil War.

Here is a better picture of just the Cloos:

The repaired crack is just above the flash reflection and is pretty undecernable (in the photo and in reality).

Here’s a link to a very simular Flute in C (D) from the Dayton C. Miller Collection: http://hdl.loc.gov/loc.music/dcmflute.1122 (SORRY this link is no longer working  ) But you can get to the D.C.M. and search for 1122 here: http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/dcmhtml/dmhome.html

Per Langwill: Apprenticed under Crosby ? 1862 listed as “fl., picc., clar., fifes”, by c1900 his son Frederick Phillip in charge of clarinet production, and William of flute production; later “george Cloos & Sons’; 1913 as George Cloos Inc’;1946 bought by Penzel & Muller.
