Selling my D practice set by Davey Stephenson. The chanter’s in excellent shape and the bag’s super tight. The bellows were French pollished, which has started to chip away. The wood underneath is in perfect shape, however, and the bellows work great. They are hand stitched, and really artistically crafted compared to many maker’s bellows. I can provide some pics over the weekend to anyone interested. You can hear a clip of how they sound in the Clips and Snips section in a tune I arranged: “Americana Medley.”
Why selling? Buying pieces here and there as amounted to an complete second practice set for me. Gotta sell something!
I should mention that the reed (the original) it missing it’s bridle. I was adjusting it not long ago when one side broke off at the bend - just wore out from manipulation. I can send this in to be fixed up before it sells, I just don’t have any of that strip on hand…
I laid the set out and took some pics this afternoon. So if anyone’s interested and hasn’t gotten them from me yet, shoot me an email and I’ll reply to it with the photos.
Quick note to everyone who contacted me about it along the way: I’ve only sold one other instrument through the board (which is why I own such a stockpile of unplayed stuff): a whistle that didn’t catch half as much attention as these pipes. I was way unprepared for the flood of interest/offers this time around. While trying to make everyone aware of what the high offer was at any moment, some emails went out out-of-date before I even clicked send, and I know at least one person got upset with me.
I sure didn’t mean anything. I’m just trying to sell my practice set for the bast price it can get. 'Trying to minimize my loss in the end. And I’m trying to keep everyone informed while pulling 12 hour shifts at the hospital.
I guess that’s the only excuse I’ll make. Next time I’ll use eBay, I think!

Now then to the person who got all upset… I have a very nice Dave Williams chanter in Boxwood Silver and Ivory FS but unfortunately due to the petrol strike here and the panic buying at the pumps I am forced to let it go for £3K… pm me… but if’n I don’t respond within a few seconds then consider the stick already sold to some dafty .
