Similes that make you go "Wha...??"

On an episode from the Travel Channel series “Mark and Olly: Living with the Machigenga”, a newborn gets outfitted with a new infant-sized tribal garment and Mark remarks that the tyke looks “as smart as a carrot”. Wha…??

Now, I know that “smart” in this case means spiffy, neat, trim, stylish, etc. I just never thought of carrots as elegant, somehow.

Should I wear them?

I guess there are limits to everything …

He said “parrot,” not “carrot.”

There is this fellow from Lost in Space, The Great Vegetable Rebellion episode;

As rebellions are often lead by the intelligentsia, it gives new meaning to intellectual vegetable.
And don’t forget The Flaming Carrot;

World’s longest carrots?

There you go. Smart as a carrot.

And who says they’re good for you? Evil as a carrot:

I was called carrot top all the time. I never understood this as my hair, when it existed, was not green, ever.

Perhaps they misred you.

At first I thought the topic was “Smilies that make you go ‘Wha…??’” I was almost afraid to click on it.

:stuck_out_tongue:

That one was almost Slood-worthy :stuck_out_tongue:

We’re becoming extinct you know, I’m looking for a bailout.

Wait..just wait..until you have a few rambling around your feet…

Then you will understand…

No disrespect implied, or acknowledged..it’s just the way it is..with kids.

They should all be drowned at birth..like old people.

Slan,
D.

You know, this is kind of true. My kids are masters of the simile. I think one of them just today got upset with another one, and said “you’re as dumb as a sack of diapers” or something similar. Oy… :stuck_out_tongue:

Oscar it ain’t.. but not bad…

Slan,
D.

Around here it was always “you’re as dumb as a stump, box of rocks, a post, sack of doorknobs, a bag of nails, a box of legos, a Microsoft product” so on and so on.

I’m working on that bit…

Kids are like Labs…if they stayed that young I would have a dozen of them..they grow up though…

Then the trouble starts…

You know this of course..

Slan,
D.

 As my daughter called yesterday to obtain “permission” for her French tattoo…

Being a simple Irishman, and lacking any knowledge of young girls..WTF is a French Tattoo?

Does that mean that it is…

Lets not go there..

Slan,
D.

I would like it noted that never, not once in my life, have I said..wait for it..“Oh, my goodness”.

Never…

D.
