It’s there now… may have been an issue with my cache file.

Bump.
Pat updated the listing on his site so there is a sound clip of the chanter there now if anyone is interested.

Also if anyone wants to contact me, try tompipes@sbcglobal.net.
My hotmail account seems to have gone haywire over the last while.

edited to mention tha the price is also negotiable.

I’ve listened to the sound clip, and basically sounds like a great chanter.

It’d be interesting to play however..

Hi Tom, any reason why your selling this wonderfull sounding chanter? I have played another C chanter based on the same design. The only difference being no Fn key. It was easy to play and was responsive. I could gain an upper octave B without having to have another gracenote before it. I was also able to put a lot of (suttel) ornamentation in that I haven’t been able to do on other chanters I’ve played.

Hold on…I’m getting a vibe..based on my physic powers I think he’s sellin git because he needs money to buy full…full…full set..by..one maker not hybrud..no…hang on…hybrid set like I feel he presently owns.

Wait there’s more…lives in Am…amsterdam…no…america…wants set…maybe…C set…yes…C full set by one maker only…present set…wide bore chanter and …hang on… medium bore drones…no …medium bore regulators…I’m losing it…it’s gone…Thankyou.you’ve been a wonderful audience. Tips in the hat on your way out, Ta.

Yes David,
Your right on the ball.
It’s a really nice chanter alright, I’ve always been happy with the chanter but the reason for selling is more or less a financial one.
The plan is to sell the chanter which will help pay for the duplication of a forth coming cd that I’ve just finished recording. Then money raised from the cd will go towards paying for a full set in C from a US maker.
I could have orderd the rest of the full set from Ian but he’s in Austrialia and I live in St. Louis now and there are a lot of fine makers across the states. I’m playing pipes for over 20 years now and I’m getting fussy in my old age and so I didn’t want another set of pipes made by different makers.
Currently my D set is made up of a Johnny Bourke chanter, Kevin Thompson regulators and drones made by Leo Rowsome, Kevin Thompson and David Boisvert!!!
They are playing great nowadays but it took years to figure out reeds for a set with a wide bore chanter and medium bore regulators, etc.
So while I am reluctant to sell it, I will start a fresh with a full set of pipes from someone else.
Also, I am getting married next year so finances are dictating that I don’t hold on to any extra instruments.
So thats more or less the storey.

So if you want to form an orderly line…
Tommy

HOLD IT!! Hold it! There’ll be no orderly conduct on this forum… oh… wait a minute… got that bass ackwards… uh… nevermind…heh…heh.. keep posting good piper folk…heh… heh… hmmmmm…

That’s surly piperfolk … to you

… sorry…dangit, that’s another thread… sorry… dangit…sorry… dangit…

I played one of Ian’s C chanters in February 2001 and fell in love with it to the point that I almost put in an order for one.

The chanter I played was tuned very well and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is flat pitch enclined.

Well done. Looking forward to hearing it.

Umph.

hi guys
is Ian MacKenzie died?
thank you

To the best of my knowledge, no.

Hi all,
Price is now slashed to $800.
Ian is alive and well and making great pipes.

Tommy

Wish I had the cash at the moment! $800 is a good price.

Ian is definitely alive - just supplied me with a new full set of reeds (4 chanter reeds and a full set of drone reeds).
