Hello all,
I’ve a chanter in the key of C for sale that I finished a good while ago but I’m finishing off a few more soon and I have to remind myself that I can’t keep them all.
It’s made from ebony with brass fittings and plastic imitation ivory. It has a wooden top too.
There are some photos here http://www.flickr.com/photos/41733258@N03/
As I said I’ve had a chanter a while now, (I finished it in in January) so although it’s not exactly brand new, it’s had no previous owner.
There is a little nick in the top of the windcap (Image 2303 & 2307) and there is a tiny scratch in the brass ferrule at the top of the chanter (which should buff out now I think of it.)
I put a brass tube in the reed socket which makes tuning a little easier, in the sense that the reed will easily slide up and down in the brass socket without having to readjust the binding.
The chanter is a slightly different design from what I’ve done in the past, so it’s kind of a successful experiment but it works as you’ll hear soon.
I’ll post some sound clips when later tonight or first thing tomorrow.
The price is $700.
Anyone interested can email me at info@pipertommymartin.com or pm me either.
All the best.
Tommy
Edited to because I forgot to say that there is no keys on the chanter but there are blocks and I can fit keys for an extra $80 a key.
The block for the F key (concert pitch wording) is at the back of the chanter and would be operated with the players thumb as seen on some historic sets, and some modern ones too.
