Is there any nice ITM session in Dublin City Center that you know of… not too late 'cause my daughter and niece are with us and they are under 18. I’ve seen one in The Cobblestones which was nice… but no flute unfortunately…
Catherine McEvoy might be in the Cobblestone this Wednesday @ 9:30. Well worth a look even if you don’t get to play along (you would want to be pretty experienced). Usually lots of flutes.
The only early sessions I know of are at lunchtime Friday in O’Donoghues (the “sandwich session” as its known) and 7-9 in the Cobblestone (also on Friday).
Hauke Steinberg plays in Donoghues on Tuesday @ 9:30 (fluter from Germany) and Unseen has a session there on Wednesday night. Both are friendly & welcoming sessions.
I was well inspired following your - very good - advice. The session was soooo nice. 18 musicians on a 10 square meters surface (7 flutes, 7 fiddle, 1 banjo, 2 guitars, 1 concertina)!
“Good craic” as one of the attendant said…
Oh! forgot to say Catherine McEvoy was there… astonishing!
It’s a pub now? Interesting. Is there another folk/trad music store near the city centre that has taken its place? As I recall, the other music stores were mostly standard fare - band instruments, guitars, etc.
Too bad, I got this message too late, busy trying to find a solution to get back to France…
I was looking for real trad music shop, not standard items like mentioned MTGuru (Waltns and so on…). Well, I will add this adress to my short list, looking forward my next visit, which should occur in june and/or august.
