Hi all. I will be in Paris with my daughter from the 19th to the 25th this month. I might have a night to get out to a session
the 23d or 24th. Any suggestions for venues? Thanks,
Arbo
Hi Arbo,
I dropped in on a tune-learning session 2 summers ago at The Quiet Man, 5 Rue des Haudriettes, close to the Rambuteau Metro stop. Very nice, welcoming folks. They have a learning session, and a regular Irish trad session, and I believe a weekly singing session as well: http://www.thequietman.eu/
Bon chance,
Mark
You’re in luck, Arbo. The Quiet Man has been closed for summer holidays since Aug. 7 and will reopen on Monday the 22nd. Look under Programmation on the web site-it looks like Irish song is on Tuesdays and an Irish session on Wednesdays. Sounds much better than anything I could find in Rome!
Yes, yes, yes… this should be a hoot! So, I have my whistles and my flute… I hope to get into the neighborhood and find the pub, though my daughter was not so keen on taking a trip on the Metro just to find an Irish pub in Paris! WTF? Well, my flute is assemble and sitting on the table at the apartment… suppose I shall have to take it out to the parks and play just to get into the feel of the moment…
Hey Arbo, you might want to go and play at place Renée Vivien, in the 3ème arondissement - see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLdoB-SU5Ts&feature=share I found this video when I joined the FB group for The Quiet Man
Let us know how it is, eh? Have fun!!
