**Sept. Great Rocky Mountain Sessions / Tionol**

We’re looking at a tour of the western Rocky Mountain states in just under three weeks. The very tentative itinerary looks like this.

Sept. 12th Grand Junction/Clifton Colorado. Friends and music - might even make a full blown session out of it if we can get everyone out!

Sept. 13th the first ever “Colorado Uilleann Piper’s Tionol” in Denver. Session after open to all I’m sure. Besides, after a day of nothing but pipes, I think ANYBODY would be praying for some other instruments to join in !

Sept. 14th Lander Wyoming. Badger hunting. Yep, we’re gonna find you Tom, and we’re gonna MAKE you teach us Thumper’s Jig SLOWLY this time! :stuck_out_tongue: Perhaps a bit of free climbing again if time and weather permit.

Monday should see us back in Salt Lake City where at least two of us will be longing for a decent nights rest.

If anyone has questions, or would like to add anything forgotten here, please feel free to contact me.

Only heard from one other Colorado area piper. Anyone else thinking they might make it out for either the tionol or the session?

Brian~

I’ll be there with bells on!

Great! Scott’s on-board…any other takers? Sounds like there’s a few from the area that will be there for the session at the very least. I KNOW there are more than three pipers in the greater Denver area.

Here’s to hoping I have a chance to meet many of you there!

Greetings! I’m new to this forum, glad to find another piper from Salt Lake. Unfortunately, I don’t think I could make the Denver Tionol, but I’ll keep it in mind (I might be able to make Grand junction though).

By the way, any plans for such a shin-dig in SLC?

Cheers! John~

Hi John,

We play a weekly session at the Piper Down on State Street every onday evening at 7:00pm. Could you make it out to that? The Denver party is really the pipers gathering to make by all accounts, though GJ should proove a fun time as well. Mack Hoover of Hoover whistle fame is headquartered there and has graciously been keeping several of the C&F crew informed as to local celtic-type events. I’m certain he’d be happy to entertain another like minded musician.

Drop me an email and give me some more info about ya: Playing how long? What make are your pipes? etc. etc. We’re on the verge of starting a Salt Lake area piping group and would love to count you among us!

All the best

Bri~

We have a Piper Down!!!
Was this establishment opened by a Mike Myers fan by any chance?
(You know, from So I Married an Ax Murderer)

You got it Kev.

Dave Morris - the owner, L-O-V-E-S that show. It’s really Salt Lake’s one and only true Irish type pub. He’s been open now just shy of six months, but runs a VERY brisk pub. Thanks to Utah’s silly liquor laws and some over-zealous (religious) neighbors, it was a rocky road to open…but he’s alive and well now.

If you’re ever out in SLC, look me up & I’ll take you down. Pints on me!

Brian -

So far, we have 8 that are expected to attend. (Those that have sent an RSVP).

scratching head now did I remember to RSVP too?! LOL With any luck, this should be a great gathering - if perhaps a little smaller than some of the ‘big ones’ out on the coasts. All the better to seriously get some decent piping instruction says me!

See everyone there! Just over one week left!

The tionol is coming down to the wire. Looking forward to meeting everyone this next weekend!

We have, as of today… (drum roll…) 11 that have signed up.

See you this Saturday.

Too bad I’m not moving out to Denver until the end of the year…I’d love to join y’all and meet ya!
I’m looking forward to meeting everyone in the area - can’t wait to get out there, I’m a bit tired of New England (been here all my life)

Aaron Welsh

Ah - what’s a few extra hundred miles to stand in the way of good times with pipes and new friends?!

Hee hee… 11 pipers piping… now all we need is 12 guys on Bodhran…

Hmmm…12 bodhráns bodhrán…ing doesn’t exactly floooooow off the tounge now does it?!

Apart from the gathered pipers, anyone else planning on attending the session after?

12 bodhrans?

Hmm… bring your own penknife!

:stuck_out_tongue:

If you’ve got a gun with only one bullet and 12 bodhráns playing all at once who do you shoot???

Easy! SAVE IT FOR ME!!!
