I have to add (since I haven’t yet,) that I haven’t not seen that as well.
It is true, however, that I haven’t seen any of Bloo’s selections.
But I do occasionally get out. Though I haven’t had to call Bloomfield, so I haven’t.
Once however, the entire extended Clement family (including in-laws such as myself,) got a movie theme stuck in our collective head. It went like this: DAdaLAdaDAAAA…duhDUHDaaaaaa! DAdaLAdaDAAAA…duhDUHdaaaaa…(etc,) and to prevent further Clement insanity, I had to call my brother in Charlottesville and hum it to him. It was, of course, the theme from The Magnificent Seven, which was, of course, based on The Seven Samurai.
For his trouble, my brother insisted that I listen to his Eli Wallach impersonation.
Fight Club was good, but make sure not to read the book first. This is not to preserve the twist ending, as one might suppose, but rather to allow a person to enjoy the movie without constantly thinking how much better the book is.
Ray was fine, but I didn’t get as worked up about it as some people. I did like it better than Walk the Line.
You’re not the only one. It was one of my children. I, however, guessed the “surprise” at the end of The Village without ever having seen the movie, and ruined it for my kid who was getting ready to go with friends.
I tried to talk a girl into telling me the surprise, once (I like knowing about these things before I see the movie), but she wouldn’t. I think I’ll just have to go look it up, since I’m sure I’ll never bother to watch it.
Hint: I had read a novel called Running Out of Time to lead a middle school “book talk” and the movie, whether Shmyalan admits/knows it or not, was kind of ripped from that book.
Gee, I’ve only heard of a few of these movies. I did see The Sting with my mom years ago—sadly, neither one of us could figure out what the heck was going on. I thought Walk the Line was really quite good. I’ve heard of Titanic and Ray (I’m thinking that’s the one about Ray Charles, which I thought sounded good). What I heard about Titanic sounded pretty goofy to me----why not just watch the old one? Seven Samurai—for some reason I was thinking that it was The Seventh Samurai or maybe I’m thinking of some movie by Bergman I don’t know.
I think it’s pretty safe to assume that almost any movie is one I haven’t seen. I can’t even remember the titles of the ones I have seen.
Fight Club- I suprised myself by liking it
Dazed &Confused- not really-
Ray- good movie- worth watching just for the amazing acting by Fox
I’ve seen Sixth Sense- an ok watch- not too hard to figure out
I did not care for the Sting, but did my durndest to learn the Scott Joplin music on piano. Wasn’t it Maple Street Rag? Wasn’t that in the Sting? I could be confused here and it wouldn’t be the first time.
I wanted to see The DaVinci Code since I liked the book, but didn’t make it. Actually I only go to the theatre maybe once a year if that.
Not only did I not work out the twist at the end before it was revealed, but I watched the Sixth Sense a second time recently and had forgotten the twist at the end and got the same shock again!
I may be justifiably considered by some to be a bit thick.
