Searchin' for Sweetheart Rosewood

Hello people! I’m new one here.
Really I’m a guitarist, but have folk woodwind music as a hobby
First i had an idea to buy mid-east flute), but when i discovered
Sweetheart Rosewood Irish flute, understood that That’s IT! So
I’m searching for used keyless D flute with that beautiful )
silver rings. By the mid of the month i’ll have some $ to spend.
Maybe somebody around here wanted to sell this or some similar
models? And could you answer, wheather it’s a good idea to buy
this flute for a longtime and if it is a good representetive of
“Irish Flutes” for everlasting amateur?
Great respect and thankful to all of you!

Hello 16051989. (Or maybe we can call you 160 for short? Or even 16? Only Dale can be #1, and that cannot be disputed).

Sorry, I don’t have a flute to sell. But I can give you some advice. First, DON’T be tempted by the mid-eastern flutes you mentioned. There’s lots of evidence to prove they are a bad gamble. Second, take your time and read about many flutes before you buy. And, if there’s any way, try some also. The Sweetheart is a good flute, but there are many others. You won’t know what’s right for you until you’ve given it some study, and hopefully tried a few. You’ve come to the right place to learn about Irish flutes!

Good luck in your search!

You can, of course, buy them from the maker.

These rosewood sweetheart flutes
are very nice flutes for Irish music, but
not great flutes–those cost quite a bit more.
They are a good place to start.

If ever you want a better flute, it’s possible
to recover a good deal of your money
by selling the sweetheart.

Hello and welcome!

These rosewood Sweetheart flutes are a very good choice for those beginning with flutes, or for those who wish a more affordable instrument for casual playing. They are a consitently good bargain for the money, and much better that many of the middle eastern flutes advertised at lower prices (many of those are very poor flutes and a waste of money, so be very careful!). The Sweetheart flutes are well in tune and play very nicely. I have had a Sweetheart rosewood whistle for 17 years and it has become better and better with time.

The Rosewood with silver rings is a very nice instrument in its price range. If you can afford to get the blackwood Resonance model (third one down on the webpage that Jim Stone gave you), it is an even better flute. I have that one and think it is very good for the money.

Either one would be a good choice for beginning or casual playing, and they hold their value well for when it is time to trade for a better flute.

I don’t have one to sell, but if you buy new from the manufacturer, you would also do well.

Good luck in your search, and welcome to the world of wooden flute playing!
