Sam Murray flutemaking documentary: TG4 (web)tv wednesday

I sent em a message too, but it’s still snooker… :sniffle:

I can’t find the archive of the show (or even the snooker match)…what section is it in?

Eric

Third category, “Ceol - Cartlann,” and then the first program, “Ceird an Cheoil (OS).” Good snooker there, but still no Sam.

Thanks Dow…I’ll have to check it out at home - the old work computer blocks anything broadcasty.

Eric

You’re welcome

Maybe Sam was as spectator at the snooker game selecting fluteable wood

And from what I know about TG4, the lads in the control booth would more than likely be having that conversation in English, too…

It’s not only the “Ceird An Cheoil” program, it seems that TG4 has taken almost everything I’d be interested in watching and replaced it with snooker…The “Féilte” program from the unfortunately-named Feakle Festival got replaced with snooker as well, it appears. That and I saw a blurb for a “Cartaí Poist” program more than a week ago that was supposed to feature Iarla Ó Lionaird wandering around Dublin (with a special guest appearance from Mick O’Brien & Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh) and I’ve yet to find it anywhere in any of the likely archives…

When was the Feakle one on (right, just checked: thursday)? We were filmed for that playing the galaconcert last week and I would be interested seeing that. Let us know when you find it.

It’s a bit annoying as downloads will take ages and hills around us block the signal of every transmitter except (just about ) RTE 1 and 2

EDIT/UPDATE:

another edition of Feilte with Feakle footage is on on the sunday night (tomorrow) at 10.30

So I have to know … was Peter’s segment snookered again? :astonished:

Haven’t checked the site yet, but will at lunch. Thank you guys so much for all your help. Here’s hoping!

I am told we were on last night’s program for the one tune. I don’t know about thursday. The neighbours promised to video it (not that that helps a lot, us never having owned a video)

I wish he’d show up somewhere!

Nothing yet - I’ve looked everywhere. Nice to see Willie Clancy talking and playing for a few seconds on Siar ar bothar 16/07/2006 about 7 minutes in

What if we wrote them a note? i.e.:

Dear TG4,

A fair number of us were very disappointed to miss your webcast of the Sam Murray documentary scheduled for August 17. Although we ‘tuned in’ at various times from all over the world, most of us were treated to the snooker championships. While we enjoyed learning a bit more about those kinds of sticks, our bigger loves are the flute and Irish music, so the Murray feature was what we were really after.

Because we appreciate your programming and sensitivity to the music tradition, we felt compelled to write and ask if you might consider posting the Murray documentary for even a few days on your site so we can watch it. Again, we’re very grateful for the vital service you offer to the entire world, and would love a chance to see this piece.

Sincerely,

The Flute Playing Community of Chiff and Fipple
