I wouldn’t worry about waiting too long for it to to be shown again. TG4 are great for repeats. The Ceird an Cheoil featuring Sam was very good, featuring Tara Bingham, Gary Hastings, Michael Clarkson etc, if I remember correctly. The whole series was very good… Méabh and Conor made a great job of all the five film documentaries in the Ceird an Cheoil series. Just keep your eyes peeled for when it will be shown next.

its on every few weeks indeed. Its been on several times since it was made that I know of and I don’t watch much TV or TV4 (I know because people say “say you on TV last night”, “Christ you’re ugly on TV”, “Do you think I pay my TV license to look at the like of you!?” etc. etc…)
Its a good show and well worth seeing. Murray is indeed a king among men, and a knave among Gods.
Regards,
Harry.
Hey, just before you all fall off your high horses: The show was shown last Wednesday night, but was deferred to 2345 local time, after the snooker and some other documentary on the last person to be publicly executed in Ireland (wrongly as it seems). So you see … patience is a virtue both when playing the flute and waiting for TG4 programme schedules. Hey… this is Ireland, you know. That’s the way things work here sometimes!!! When ‘God’ made time, he made plenty of it… etc. etc.
Oh, hey, no high horses intended…I dashed it off as an idea, but maybe I’d better look at the words again before sending. It was just a request that we’d like to see it, and wondering if TG4 might post the thing on their website - now that I think about it, maybe I’ll ask if they could put it in their archives? - so we global Murray & flute fans with our wildly disparate schedules and connections and timezones could catch it.
Thanks for the insight! Meanwhile, if it’s cool with everyone that we make this request, I will make sure it’s not offensive and then go ahead and send it on.
In my experience, broadcasters actually like to know that people are looking for their programming - especially when it comes to reaching as wide as audience as wants to see this documentary. It’s sort of an informal ratings system!
Best,
cat.

I guess it beats being a knave among cods!
Sorry, forgot to mention your good self too Harry! Jeez, you’re wile ugly on TV alright! ![]()
(messing)
Is there a searchable schedule for the channel anywhere? Did I somehow miss it in the ehem, well-designed website?
There are 3 out of the 5 Ceird an Cheoil episodes here:
http://www.tg4.tv/default.aspx
Look @ the menu on the left of the screen.
Click “Cláir Eile - Cartlann” and scroll down to the 3 installments of “Ceird an Cheoil”: 26/07/2006, 19/07/2006 and 12/07/2006.
2 out of the 5 missing unfortunately (including Sam’s), but you’ll get the idea of how the documentaries in the Ceird an Cheoil series are laid out, and hopefully the other 2 will be added soon!
Sweet, thanks Murrough!
No probs…
Found the 4th out of the 5 Ceird an Cheoil episodes here:
http://www.tg4.tv/default.aspx
Again, look @ the menu on the left of the screen.
Click “Ceol - Cartlann” and scroll down to “Ceird an Cheoil - 02/08/2006”
Unfortunately still one missing, yep, you guessed it, it’s Sam’s… 4 online, 1 to go!
How many of these are you in Harry???!!! Nice playing on the: “Ceird an Cheoil - 19/07/2006” BTW!
I emailed the nice pwople down at the tg4 and inquired about the broadcast, this is the reply:
Jon, a chara,
Nil an clar seo sna tg4.tv archives toisc gur lean an Bheo craoladh do Snucar nios faide nar mar a cheapamar. Nil aon data athcraoladh agam faoi lathair. Ta se ar ár gcumas coip a dheanamh duit , ach ta costas ag baint leis seo. leis se faigh foirm iarrtas. Ba cheart e a sheoladh ar ais go > brigid.ui.shearraigh@tg4.ie > ma ta speis agat ann.
This programme is unavailible on the Tg4.tv archive due to an over run of Snuvcar Beo last week. We do not have a date for a repeat at present. We can however make you a copy of the programme , but there is a cost involved. Please find attached an application form. If you are interested you can send the form to > brigid.ui.shearraigh@tg4.ie> .

I can get it on DVD for 30 yuros + shipping, I think I will wait until it comes out at Blockbuster video rentals… Unless they don’t post it for a while, then might spring for it… ![]()

Hmm quite expensive - prehaps best to hold out for a while and see if it turns up on the site together with the 5 Traveller musicians programs. I really want to see them
Nice to see Matt Molloy playing away there in Westport- he can certainly play that flute - he does the contradition well. Also Harry Bradley in the bodhran program - very inspiring to hear these two flute players/musicians doing what they do so well.
Amazing… “Nil an clar seo sna tg4.tv archives” The word for archive (cartlann) is all over the site, still she went for the English term.
Silly me. I actually had looked in the “Ceol - Cartlann” section; never occurred to me to try elsewhere. So maybe they will archive the mystical Murray episode at some point, then, since they’ve got the others over there?
no cathy!
murray episode is only one that still missing of whole pack of episodes.
good think is that you are able to record on hard disk all material on archive ( my friend will do it for me!)
take look at gentrai episodes, also very good.
marin
lol, no offence, but it maybe wasn’t the best idea in hindsight letting TG4 know there was such a big demand for Sam’s film documentary, then asking where can it be bought, how much will it cost etc., etc., as they would probably have put it on the archive section anyhow, eventually…
I just hope for those of you who haven’t seen it that TG4 don’t get wise to this and put the big scrupulous business-head on them now, and have it as a “sale only” video / dvd.
Somehow though, I can’t see them doing that… hopefully.

Think first people… don’t petition, making it known there is a big demand for something, that you really really want, then ask how much it is… lol

Well, if it makes you feel better, I hadn’t done anything with it yet.
Too busy.
