Rudall alert!

I like the first one; reversed tenon on the barrel, and the B foot!
I think everyone saw the R&R go for big bucks, so now they are coming out of the woodwork!

It would be nice to know what serial numbers they have…

Well, reading the listings, it’s not so much people “coming out of the woodwork” - they’re all being sold by Seb Knight. He sold a bunch of decent flutes a while ago.

No kidding.

Jon. You know… I think we’ve seen and enjoyed the best example of solid R&R playable perfection in it’s untamperd form. Who did you sell that baby too again? Dave?

Nice flutes and Chris Wilkes has been involved in restoration work which is a plus. The seller also has a Pask on E-bay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-Wooden-Flute-by-Pask-/121252677457?hash=item1c3b390751

Serials should be into #1000 ~ 2200…

The Pask does look nice…

Will some one please tell me more about Pask? New to me.

Here is Terry McGee’s extensive write up on Pask:
http://www.mcgee-flutes.com/Pask.htm

The Pask looks neat. It has patterned rings just like my Cochran…

Best wishes.

Steve

Yes, Pask often copied the Cochran flute design… :smiling_imp:

nooo. not I

Wonder what’s going on in Seb’s life that he’s dumping?

lovely instruments, especially the Rudalls.
Very nice examples.

the Pask rings are very much the same as the old Prowse flutes. In fact, i’d bet the same craftsman made them. Clunky if nothing else.

The better Pasks came much later, tho.

I’d read that somewhere, I’m sure… Maybe on Terry’s site—or Wikipedia.

Best wishes.

Steve

‘Yes, Pask often copied the Cochran flute design..’

Who didn’t?

If you want to know serial numbers, either download and manipulate the images to see if you can make 'em out (looks doubtful to me) or use the eBay enquiry system and ask! :poke: I reckon #2xxx for the B foot and #2-3xxx for the other.

I have a R+R with a pewter plug for the Eb key, number 2883, so it wouldn’t surprise me if the one with the Wilkes head is in that ballpark. Mine is another lovely, responsive player.

serial numbers shown…
I thought the deco silver band was made in the '30 but turns out was '40 instead.

Amazing, that all the Rudall’s went unsold! The Pask went for a good price! Anyone on C&F get it?

There’s still 12, resp. 14 hours left to bid on two of the Rudalls, but they probably won’t sell either as the starting prices are too high for these kind of flutes.

I think the starting prices are very reasonable. Look at the Pask result. Also the ridiculously low result for the amazing gold & silver modern late RC Böhm flute. These two remaining flutes are worth way more than those prices and anyone buying them at close to those prices is getting a bargain. One of them has an additional Wilkes head worth the best part of £1k in itself!

Also, bear in mind these are fully refurbished (by Wilkes), ready to play instruments from a reputable source. They’re not auction room or attic find items in pot luck condition needing overhaul.
