Phil Hardy was kind enough to send a newbie his CD to be reviewed, so heres my first attempt at a review. ![]()
Basically…This CD is awesome. It has a bit of everything in it; from Cuban and Bolivian traditional tunes, to jazzy Celtic ones, to artsy pieces you might hear in a coffee shop. For those who were saying how they just didn’t like the sound of low keyed whistles, you should listen to some tracks on Whistle Graffiti. Everything flows incredibly smoothly, and the quality of the recording is beautiful. So much time obviously went into perfecting all of this, and every song sounds completely different and fresh, making it fun to listen to. In perticular the 1st track: Wainu, 3rd: A Mile Down The Road, and 4th: The Granny Set stuck out to me. I guess I’m not much of a scholar on Bolivian traditional music (haha), but the whistles in Wainu sound perfect…I’m jelious…great stuff to jam to, or float down the amazon with (I know there is no geographic correlation, so don’t ask). The third track is Scottish track I believe, I grew up with Celtic music so I’m biased to this sort of stuff…clean track. The fourth cut is my favorite, it’s completely fun to listen to. Bouncy and jazzy stuff, it makes me happy inside.
Anyway…it’s quite a fun CD so you should get a hold of Phil to find out information about it. Thanks Phil!
