If you only listen to Irish Traditional music read no further. However, if you like some variety you might want to listen to this CD. If any CD could be classified as World music this is it. This CD features whistle in many keys but there is a wide variety of instruments. These include whistle, guitar, bass, charango, quenas, pan pipes, cello, flugle horn, quenas, pipes, vocals, mandolin, keyboard, didgeridoo and various percussion. The whistles are Chieftain and Kerry in various keys and also Hi D Susato and Bleazey.
The first track is Bolivian and then the second is cuban. My wife doesn’t like jigs and reels but she liked this CD because she said it could be played in the background while doing other things and be enjoyed. I really enjoyed it as a change of pace from my usual music. It is a very good demonstration of the different styles that can be played on the whistle. Performers listed are Phil Hardy, Tony Hinnegan, Tim Dowd, Pete Curtis, Joel McDermott, Rob Terry, Clive Batkin, Andy Driver, and Alva Romero.
If you want something different in whistle music give it a try. I loved it. Thanks for the opportunity Phil.
