Phil Smillie, of the Tannahill Weavers, told me at a local show two years ago this was “ready to go”. I’ve been watching their website all this time, but only today got the email. Quite a lineup, too!

Also, thanks for the link-my brain was on hold this morning. I did find the CD, but couldn’t listen to the samples. I then Googled, and found a bit of other music I liked, and only one track from Tannahill Weavers, the title track, Sound of Taransay, but it was on a Celtic collection CD, with sound samples.
I really did like that sample (#5), very much, and also found another that I loved, called An Raibh Tu Ag an Gcarraig, (#9), by Déanta. Some other nice tunes on there as well.
So, thank you for the introduction to Phil’s music, Charlie, even though I couldn’t get WM player to make it go. And thanks for the leads on the other tunes I liked! Oh, and the coffee tip too!
The last track looks to be the solo flute one he recorded for the never-completed Wooden Flute Obsession volume 4 CD. I’m glad Phil got it together to complete his own CD to feature his talents.
It’s a superb collection of tunes, mainly of his own compositions, which to be honest, I’m always a bit apprehensive about. The playing is excellent on both flute and whistle, and as can be seen from the list above, the guest list of contributers is fairly stellar. Worth buying for the first tune alone, the best “new” strathspey [ or just about any tune ] I’ve heard in many years.
Congratulations to all concerned - hope it goes “platinum”, Phil.
