A while back I posted about an entry I made in the Albany Times Union’s “How We Met” contest. Charlene and I became one of three finalist couples and tonight we found out that we won!
The winner’s were announced from the stage at a concert at Saratoga Performing Arts Center. All three finalist couples were given excellent tickets, admission to the VIP tent beforehand for snacks and beverages. Tonight’s concert was all American songs featuring Marvin Hamlisch playing, conducting and sharing personal reminiscences . His “backup band” was the Philadelphia Orchestra-- not too shabby.
Our winner’s packet said that over 600 votes were cast, and that we received well over half of those. I’m sure that more than a few of those came from our friends here, and we wholeheartedly thank you all.
Congratulations from us too! I was just wondering about that, yesterday! Well done, both of you! Of course, you already have the biggest and best prize, but a little extra is always welcome!
Paul, Since I missed your invitation to SPAC, I’ll have to make it up to you. So let me know when you have your spa visit. I’m sure you’ll need a whistle valet. Or a protocol attaché. Or some kind of flunkey. Heck, I’m not proud.
