reedmaker allan moller recommended

I want to recommend Allan Moller as an excellent reedmaker, who provides a hassle-free, trouble-free service, and reeds that play well, are balanced and in tune (chanter permitting). http://www.uilleannreeds.co.uk/

While all uilleann pipers probably should aspire to making their own reeds, and many surely do, there are times when this just isn’t possible and a reedmaker is needed. My personal experience is that the pipemaker is sometimes not available, or not able, to provide working reeds. I recently described in another thread how two chanters I own were returned to me by the pipemaker with unfinished reeds, despite waiting 16 months for them to be reeded.

So I sent the chanters to Allan Moller and he returned them in SEVEN DAYS, with excellent finished reeds.

I am a very satisfied customer.

Brett

I would second that, in fact, i reckon that he is one of the few masters of reed making. I’ve been using him for years. If you have a crap sound it will either be chanter or reed, if its the reed Alan will make you sound good. Hes also a very pleasant chappy.

In my case there is a third option!

RORY

In my case as well.

In my case, it is usually always the third reason… the player (me) is crap.

I just wanted to add yet another recommendation for Allan’s skills.

I just received my full set of Rogge B pipes back today, which I had asked Allan totally re-reed for me in January. I can honestly say that in the 10+ years I’ve had the set that they have never played or sounded better. I have just shipped my concert pitch set off to him for similar treatment, and am lookiing forward to the results.

Thanks Allan. Superb work.

My recommendation here as well. I sent the poor man a homemade chanter and it came back sounding great. He also gave me some tips on how to improve it further. All this within a week
