Several weeks ago I had a chance to spend some time with three Hoover whistles–a Low G, Low F and Soprano F. After having read comments on Mack’s whistles by other posters, I have to say I agree–great whistles.
The Hoover brass Low G truly is a quiet player. It requires attention to breath pressure, although, not difficult to get teh hang of. The tone is wonderful and the volume perfect for those late night hours after the kids are in bed.
I found the Hoover CPVC Low F to be a smooth player. Fair volume, with a very pleasant tone. Not a lot of chiff and bite, but, easy on the ear. This one was my favorite.
The Hoover soprano F is another nice whistle. It’s made with a CPVC head and a brass body. The holes are very close together, a challenge for those with large hands. The tone is very good up to the very top end. The whistle, as a whole is very nice.
All three whistles have proven to be great whistles for the modest price.
