R&R #2464

I see #2464 is back on sale at the early music shop, at double the Bonham’s hammer price of last year…£5,310 :boggle:

‘Silver and Cocus wood Flte by Rudall & Rose London circa 1833. Branded Rudall & Rose, No. 15 Piazza, Covent Garden, London, 2464, Length from embouchure to foot base 591mm (23 1/4in) with eight padded silver keys, two articulated, restorations, in fitted case.’

That is the same as the auction description. Hopefully it’s been cleaned up from the issues at auction.

Condition at time of auction in 2011:

Full length fissure close to embouchure.
Full length fissure in barrel.
C & C# lower keys seized and inoperable.
Wear on fingerholes.
Distressed case, restorable.

It was already stated as having other restorations, not specified.

eight padded silver keys

uhm really, and what about the last two :really:

I doubt it will sell for 5310 sterling in today’s recession. People don’t seem prepared to pay so much these days for old flutes, or vintage electric guitars.

Rudall & Rose 2464 is still for sale but at a reduced price 4.779 sterling

Mmmm, still the best part of $8,000 and more than two and a half times what I paid for mine of similar age in full playing order. It has ‘restorations’ too so I guess it’s not pristine condition either :boggle:
