Rudall & Rose 4239 up for auction again

Rudall & Rose 4239 up for auction again at G&H for the third time on September 17-18th, 2015, second time this year, strange. Maybe the top bidder on June 18th, 2015 didn’t collect the flute? It sold then för 1450 sterling + 20% + VAT + 3% online fee.

Whilst bidding on a couple of flutes at Gardiner Houlgate, I could not pass the opportunity to take note of the reintroduced Rudall & Rose 8 key flute S.N.4239. It sold for £1700.00 hammer price on the 17th. September. What a difference a few months can make to the value ( depending on who’s watching ) of a desirable instrument. Other than this it was a relatively quiet day. At a total cost of £2171.24 is the value of these flutes beginning to rise again? Late 2014 an original boxed with certificate 8 key R&R went for £750.00 hammer price at the same auction house. The final cost being in the region of £1080.00. What a difference a year makes!

Rudall & Rose 4239 went for £1700 + VAT and buyer’s premium at the G&H auction 17-18 Sept. 2015. Prehaps a slight increase in auction prices for Rudall flutes compared to 2014.
