Quick bit of help from the graphically savvy?

I don’t know why I am such an idiot (don’t answer that), but I can’t seem to make the background of this little .gif transparent:

I want to use it on a grey background without seeing a little white box. Can someone help me with that? I’ve tried and failed. *cough. I don’t care if its .gif or .png

TIA

test…

It seems to have worked. Is that ok, Bloo? Gifworks is a pretty cool place to edit even animated .gifs.

Photoshop copes too…

For the life of me, I just can’t figure Photoshop out. I have no idea why, and I’m sure it’s extremely easy to use (I’ve been told it is anyway :stuck_out_tongue: ). One of these days I’m going to force myself to figure it all out.

Whoever told you that was pulling your leg and damagin’ yer psyche. Sure, some aspects are easy to use, but its one of the most sophisticated things I have ever seen and I have been using it since 92. Layers and layers of knowledge to be learned about it, not to mention the frequent upgrades. It’s a brilliant program but not easy… It’s got clubs, its own magazine, many user forums and so on…A subculture, really.

I know, I am using it right this very minoot.

I use JASC Paint Shop Pro (which was recently bought out by Corel, so there goes another of my favourite programs). Nothng beats Adobe for complicated programs, though I have to admit it does just about everything, and is an industry standard for professionals (and it costs a s**tload, too).

Yep it’s heavyweight all right, but the simple things are simple to do. It’s usually a question of seeing the wood for the trees. The bit you want is usually easy enough to use… it’s finding it that’s a bugger.

Paint Shop Pro is also quite good, and perhaps a bit easier than Photoshop. Certainly cheaper!

I think there’s also a Windows version of The Gimp which I used to use on Linux and which is FREE.

What were you trying with, Bloomie? Some progs make transparency pretty awkward.

Thanks! very cool.

Gimp. I couldn’t parse through the alpha layers and new layers and select by transparency and… argh. I knew it wasn’t right to kick the dog again, so I posted my plea for help instead.

Look out, he’s talkin’ dirty again!

Actually the basics of PS aren’t that hard but there are thousands of subtle things that go into good photoshops. Do a google for “photoshop contest”

I use Paint Shop Pro. It’s a lot cheaper and has the same capabilities.
