hi rich, what do you say, changing the forum in such a way, that us unfortunate sods without a website can post pictures too, right off our own computers?
best, amar.
Hey Amar -
Your best bet is to email Rich, he often says he doesn’t always see posts on the board that are directed to him.
You can get to his email here:

I don’t think it’s going to happen. Posting pictures directly on the site is doable (easy, in fact), but pictures use storage and bandwidth, both of which cost money. Seeing as how this board already uses rediculous amounts of bandwidth and is a financial burden to maintain, I seriously doubt that Rich will be in the mood to allow pictures to be stored on his server. I certainly wouldn’t.
Chris
thanks ava, just mailed him. ![]()
anyway…what do you guys think about it…?
should i start a poll? haha..
Amar me old swiss-dood,
For about 30 bucks a year you can get yer own website from the likes of IVC Hosting.com.
Comes with a shedload of disk space, and easy-peasy file manager (you don’t even need FTP), a bucket-load of email addresses etc etc.
Less than the cost of one of your Chieftains! ![]()
Gary’s right. Most people don’t realize how inexpensive websites have become. Even registering your own domain has gotten really cheap. So, let’s go with www.amar.com
Dale
To make that work, your computer would have to act as a server with a static IP address and be online (accessable) all the time. Or… do as Gary suggests and pay for discount hosting.
hey, amar.com…cool, but that site seems to be under construction…haha…
yeah, you’re all right, rich answered that if would be way too costly. i didn’t realize that.

hmmm, my own site…it would be full of whisky, whistles, w…
You can use a free image hosting service.
http://www.imagestation.com/
works very well for me.
thank you, i’ll have a wee look.
Gary,
Actually phpbb (on which this board is based) allows, if enabled, for users to upload files from their computers to be stored on the board’s server and displayed in-line.
While we’re on the topic of webhosts, I recommend dixiesys.com
Chris
you know, i have a yahoo account, there’s this “my photos” site at yahoo. might as well post them there, that should work, no?
here’s a test, should be castle edinburgh, sorry, it’s on it’s side..

hey, that worked! now, will that work even when I switch off my pc?..i wonder..
Yahoo does not allow direct linking of pictures. See, it uses their bandwidth and they want at least a chance of someone seeing their paid advertising.
I use york.com for my picture hosting. It is the same interface as snapfish.com (hah, I even got a snapfish error on york the other day.)
You upload your picture, view the picture, look at the properties and copy the url of the picture (three lines worth). You then paste it into a thread, highlight the url and click on the Img button. Select preview and you should see your picture.
but norcal, that’s what I did with my yahoo-account picture, and I can see it here, edinburgh castle, can’t you see it?
I can see it, Amar.
I’ve got online hosting space through a friend of mine, and if anyone needs temporary hosting of a pic or sound file (say for a week or two) please feel free to email or PM me and I’d be happy to help out. I can rotate pictures too. ![]()
you can? hey, that’s cool, i’ll post some more, they’re from my scotland-holiday, just a few weeks old. ![]()
this was on the isle of skye…

a beautiful scots pine forest…

Hmm, those ones did not show for me…
Can’t help with pics till I get home from work, but you can email them to me and I will take care of it when I get home in about two hours.
Yet they showed for me but the first did not.
I’m confused. ![]()
hmmm, this is weird…why do some show up and then the same ones don’t… ![]()
they’re always visible to me..
