In late July I want to take the family to Nashville for a weekend. We’ll be tourists. I’m looking for a hotel suggestion.

I stayed at a Hilton in 2001 that was near downtown but I can’t remember the exact location. It was the usual hotel chain room- no better,no worse.
Of course, the fact that I had taken #2 daughter down there for the national veterinary technician board exam and we spent the entire evening studying did not make it a fun trip-probably why I don’t remember it well. 
There are six blocks of almost continuous activity starting near the river at 2nd and Broadway. I say stay as close as possible to downtown and hang the cost.

Tripadvisor.com lists that hotel as #5 among more than 100. You do have to take their rankings with a grain of salt, but the Sheraton sounds like a good bet.

Umm… wouldn’t it be “Q for Quincy” and “O for Oracle”? 
Never been, but I saw pictures once of this ridiculously over-the-top decorated place called Graceland. There did seem to be plenty of rooms. I’m sure no-one would mind if you camped out for a day or two.

Graceland is in Memphis, not Nashville…
p.s. Carry a large handkerchief. The summer humidity in middle Tennessee is brutal.

For those used to the summers in Alabama, Nashville will seem like the Hamptons.. 
Not when you’re drivin’ for hours and hours to get from one place to t’other.
We din’t drive there. We flies.

Nashville is a great place–ya’ll are going to enjoy it.
Check out the big tourist shops but don’t forget to hit some of the small shops, as some are neat and some are weird and all are cool.
Eat at the Rainforest Cafe if you never have. A bit pricey, but way fun, especially if you have kids!!!

Since you’re going to be so close, you might want to take a slight detour through Sparta.
