I like pipes too. They keep fresh water comming to my house.

Dionys

What do you use to keep the corrosion down so they don’t go sharp? Do they come with a Bodhran built-in?

Oh. All my pipes are nickel-silver instead of the standard steel that tends to rust.

Dionys

And no knocking like a drum? Do you use hemp on all your threads or PTFE? Well nickel-silver must be beautiful, if they’re exposed.

Does any one have gold-plated pipes? I wonder what kind of wood would look best with them…maybe boxwood?

Hey D. if you’re playing Britton pipes what happened to those vintage ones I heard you playing in the pub a couple years ago? (no water there though) LD

Walden- I didn’t know you were lurking around here!

I still like the pipes.

Greetings Walden, I suppose coming from the whistle board… So why not get yerself a practice set and join in the fun, you’ll like them even more.

From your location, one might assume that you are of the Cherokee tribe?

Maybe when I’m able to, I shall.

From your location, one might assume that you are of the Cherokee tribe?

I am of mixed Scots and Cherokee heritage, and a tribal member.

Hey Waldo, what are you doing lerrrking over here? You shouldn’t be over here, the uilleann pipes would severely damage your sense of well-being. Didn’t you read the thread about “Does piping cause or attract insanity?” And besides, the pipes take too much practice and concentration to ever think about politics (unless you’ve been playing them for years and years).

Hey, I sold a Patrick Sky chanter to young lady down in Ok. City back in the 80’s, so I know there’s pipers lurking around your area. Karin Stafford (daughter of Tom Stafford-the astronaut) probably still has them and probably still lives around there somewhere (I lost contact with her-maybe her name has changed). She’d prabably sell the practice set to you if she still has them, and get you started. Worth a try anyway.

PS: I didn’t know who you were last year when Dionys and I were having a little fun above with “pipes.”

bump

Carol made me do it!

runs away

I like beer
and I like Cheese
and I like the smell of a westerly breeze

Is to be on horseback (Mike Oldfield - Ommadawn)

Hey! And away we go
Through the grahss
Cross the snauw
Big brown beastie
Big brown face
Ay’d rahther be wid you
Than flahying through spayce.

That one? Something about hitting one’s head against the wole, wasn’t it?

:boggle:

I think it was:

Hey! And away we play
Through the jigs
Cross the reels
Octopus evil
Big octopus
I’d rather play with you
Than playing bodhran.
