I have found a ward flute, so I am all sorted thanks to all who responded.
Just got pipped to the post on the recent Ward D and Eb body flute,I had a delrin ward, and sold it before I really got to play it, ( my loss )
so if you have one or a Mcgee GLP in delrin that you want to part with let me know, can buy straight cash or I have a very nice Dave Williams flute in African Blackwood, for trade, not the recent one that sold on ebay, but looks similar.
Why limit yourself to the GLP McGee for a Delrin flute? I’ve played both Ward and McGee GLP, and don’t think there all that close-that GLP has rather small holes, and has a different tone, though it’s a nice flute. A Standard Rudall McGee with medium holes might be closer to the Ward though.
You’re asking for a short list of available used flutes when you want a Delrin flute, so it may be good to keep your options open.
thanks for the info, I have listened to the Mcgee GLP, it is a very nice sounding flute and as you say it is quite different to the ward, sound and hole size, I am primarily looking for a travel flute, I know wood is very robust But I travel a fair bit, next week I am in Berlin, and three weeks later I will be in Goa, the conference photography I do means 2 or 3 days full on shooting then at least another 3 days were I am on standby, so I never really get to see the place, but as its a hotel I can play/practice during the day, I have kept the list small as I have played other delrin/polymers and the ward is one I should have kept.
yes I did consider those, but having owned and played the Ward, and although then stupidly selling it, I did regret it, so getting a chance to buy another delrin Ward, the decission was easy, and I know the others have a good following and from various reviews are great flutes, but trying a flute is really the only way of really knowing if it suits you.
