Paddy Maloney Buys Seth Gallagher's Personal Full D Set!!!!!

Last week, pipe maker Seth Gallagher swam to Ireland (I think he told me that to impress me, but I still think he flew!)… to hand deliver his personal Full D set of pipes TO the Infamous PADDY MALONEY!!!

Apparently, Paddy was smitten by the pipes while in NYC. He promptly made the offer to purchase them and the rest is as they say …history!

Congratulations Seth!!!

There should be a sound clip and quote from Paddy posted shortly!

Ceol!

Hard to beat that for an endorsement!

I’ll bet his waiting list is about to get longer. :astonished:

His wait is like 6 months now if you can believe it! He has 3 employees in his shop!

Deidre Connelly from Cherish the Ladies just ordered one of his flutes too! Look like he’s going through an endorsement phase. Jimmy O’Brien Moran plays one as well.

I know more than one piper at home who said Paddy Maloney should get himself a set of pipes that works and that is always in tune.

Looks like he’s finally gone and dunnit

Ah, but will the thing still be in tune now that Paddy’s playing it? :really:

OK, does this mean he’s not playing the Spanish made Hevia, Parrado & Aragon pipes?

I don’t think Paddy has been playing Hevia, Parrado & Aragon pipes. He may use their chanter, I don’t know for sure. maybe someone else out their can answer this.

Hevia, Parrado & Aragon had 2 sets of drones and a chanter on display at the Armagh pipers, William Kennedy week. The drones were very well made, look very similar to a set of Ginsberg’s. I must also add I never heard the sets being played, so I can’t say how good they sound.

No regulators on either of the set of drones, which also suggests they are not confident enough to display them either. I also notice there are no close-up pictures of any of their sets to enable anyone to judge the workmanship and quality of keys etc.

The chanter was also very heavily scalloped round the tone holes, which I think means tuning problems of the chanter also. There was only one chanter on display, which suggests to me that this is a good sounding chanter, but maybe not all other chanters they make are up to this standard, or two full half sets would have been present. The sound samples I have heard from the internet of the chanter, to me they are a little on the dull side.

On the other hand now, Seth Gallagher’s stuff looks and sounds great and have stood the test of time. I’m sure Paddy will have lots of fun with his new set.

After listening to the clip on Seth’s site, it sounds like he is reeding Paddy’s Rowsome set as well.

Now I really can’t wait to get my drones next month!

I know Seth Gave him some reeds for his Rowsome. Tweaked 'em while there…but wasn’t sure how they’d be after he left. Anyone knowing anything about reeds knows how that goes. There’s a “tuning up” period where the reed has to be “felt” and adjusted as the early weeks go on. As for the sound clip…that the Gallagher chanter
