Anyone have any information as to why Paddy stopped playing the set and invested in set he’s playing now ?

I believe he is playing a Quinn and Koehler set for a good few years now.

The old Crowley set has been sitting under his bed for years.
I guess Paddy thinks they need a new home.

I thought it was a Williams set with a Koehler chanter that Paddy has been playing for many years now

Yes, Paddy plays a Dave Williams set of drones and regulators together with a Koehler and Quinn boxwood chanter. I’ve read that Paddy liked the mellower tone of boxwood. I believe Williams set is based on measurements from the Crowley set. I took photos of the Williams set in August 2000 when Paddy played at the Tönder folk festival. The set was new then but Paddy still used the old Rowsome chanter from the Crowley set, as he hadn’t made a suitable reed for the Williams chanter at that time.

Nice photos they are too .

Dave also made 2 chanters in D with the set.
