Beats me. It’s another one that came in an email.
There is a whole book of paintedup cats that the pic came from I think. I remember thinking of it as a good gift for cat fanatics last Christmas. All kinds of disclaimers that the cats weren’t hurt during shoot, etc. etc.
Man, those are funny, Jerry!!! I looked around in my files and have nothing that funny to show.
And to think, that catfish photo comes off “Snapfish.”
peteinmn, when I first saw that cat, all stretched out, I didn’t know if it
was a rabbit, a cat-dog cross, or some kind of exotic cat. But the caption
that came to me was “Hungry For Arms.”

It’s either a Cornish Rex or a Devon Rex breed cat and they all look like that, sort of “sphinx” like only not quite as nekkid. A genetic mutation gives them that short wavy fur.
They gotta stop screwing around with the genes of these critters! I’ve just got a scroungy old cat named Bob here that earns his keep by catching mice that keep trying to ge into the house.
Seriously, I think it’s amazing what breeding has done to the basic shape of the cat (and dogs for that matter). Some of the cat breeds (Maine Coon Cat for example) are a long way from their origins.

We actually own the book with the painted cats. It’s called “Why Paint Cats” and has all kinds of cool pictures in it (if I had a scanner I’d show you my favorites). The coloring is largely vegetable dye and fades in a couple weeks.
And no, the cats aren’t harmed in the process. The dye is non toxic, and the cats get tons of love and affection while they are being painted so they will stay still.
Some people have too much time on their hands.
