OT -- value of website?

How does one place a value on a website? I’m planning to sell off one of my domain names. Does anyone know of a website that lists prices sites recently sold for?

Any time you do a search through “whois” you will get links to sites that sell and register domain names. Some are worth hanging on to. I finally got one that I wanted when they started selling the dot US space. I haven’t done anything with it for a couple of years, but I’m hanging on to it. I am using one of my other one for a small club of about 300 with 50 regulars. The trick is to put it on the market well before your registration runs out. I was able to do this through my provider on my first really experimental domains and I got 154.00 for a name that had cost me 12 bucks to register. You just never know.

The price you get will depend on either the name, or the stats. Someone wanting to run a business is going to appreciate any traffic already coming to your site by habit. If you want (or need) to raise your stats before you try to sell, let me know and I can funnel some visitors your way.

I just registered chifforfipple.com . I figgered Dale could use the competition…

You can find about 600+ domain names for sale on ebay.

Here’s one of the better ones going for about 6K. Page one has some for 1-3 million dollars.
