finding current whistle prices?

Hi,

I am playing with the idea of thinning my whistle herd to help fund needed home repairs. How does one find out recent sale prices? Ebay does not have much sales history available.

Is Ebay the best sales medium?

Cheers,

E-bay aside the Sold and Old part of the Instrumetn exchange forum may give some indication of what went or didn’t and what the asking prices were.

Are you shedding anything interesting?

eBay is a decent resource for research into current values. Last time I checked there was a six month history of sales there (but that may have changed recently). The best bet is to track sales of particular brands there yourself. Obviously you cannot hang on “asking” prices.

eBay is certainly a double edged sword as a sales outlet. It can cast a broad net for buyers. It has all the tools that buyers for a particular whistls can use to “spot” their next tooter and make the purchase. But it also eats up your margin with their various growing fee schedules.

On the other hand the Used Instrument Exchange here on C&F targets the captive whistle playing audience here generally characterized by a high incidence of WhOA! disorder. The tools are fewer but the ambiance is very good.

How have I never seen the used instrument section of the C&F before? Thanks guys for the links.

As for interesting… well, I am NOT opening up sales just yet but there will probably be a Copeland low D & low G; O’Riordan low D and regular D; a non-tuneable aluminum low D; a few Burke whistles, plastic and aluminum.

Cheers

Yer going to set off a riot, Dean!

Just for fun, put a counter on your PMs…

Best wishes.

Those whistles ought to get the house repaired for sure.

Another bow to the Gumby archives…

Best wishes.
