I have an O’Riordan whistle that someone is interested in. I have no idea what its worth. I don’t remember how much I paid for it. It’s metal and breaks down into three segments. It has a little pouch that you can attach to your belt. The headjoint will fit on the body other whistles like Generation, Feadog, etc.
Does anyone know what would be a fair asking price?
If you read the comments through there, you’ll get an idea. There was a G sold on Ebay for about 310-330 or so a few months ago.
Given all that, you could give the interested party a good deal and sell it at a more affordable price (especially since it isn’t something you appear to play much anymore?)–a buyer’s dream. Or you could sell it for the going market price (high) and use the money for other things you need.
You’re right that I don’t use it much. I have a Silkstone which I like a lot better. I also have a new (to me) Busman but I haven’t played it much yet. I don’t think my prospective buyer will pay $100 US for it but at least I know the general price rante.
That link above was for a similar O’Riordan that went for $450. Yours is perhaps not quite so fancy, but $100 would be one hell of a sweet deal for it.
I’d trade you a Silkstone Alloy C for it in a second.
Of course, the sad thing is yours may well be an O’Riordan I tried and rejected four or five years ago at Goderich…
Well I sure didn’t pay any $100 for it. I don’t even like it very much. I bought it at the Southern Michigan Dulcimer Festival some years ago so it couldn’t be one you turned down, Colomon.
