OT: Looking for the notes to a bluegrass tune

Don’t know if it should be off topic or not since it isn’t a trad tune. But a friend played it the other night and I like it very much.

The tune/song is “A Dream of a Miner’s Child.” It is a bluegrass favourite.

I tried nine pages of Google, the Mudcat Cafe but no luck.

Any help will kindly appreciated.

Do you need the sheet music, lyrics or chords?
It’s a wonderful tune. There are lots of internet resources for bluegrass tunes and songs. I just need to know what exactly you’re after.

I’m looking for the sheet music, or a facsimilie in ABC notation, which neither seems to pop up after nine pages of Google.

I sure didn’t have any luck. I wonder if it is under copyright? After I found the lyrics I knew what song it was. I’ll be interested to see where somone finds it. Also a bit humiliated. If you have a recording, I think it wouldn’t be too hard to pick it up off that—since it’s not real fast—if you can’t find the sheet.

The commonest format to fine tunes in in the bluegrass universe is in TAB–tablature for playing guitar, mandolin or banjo.

If that’s what you can find, it’s possible if you want it badly enough to work out std notation (and hence abc) from tab. I think there are programs which can do that, as well.

Don’t be! I’m a librarian and do this sort of thing for a living and I can’t find it!

s1mon, I will try looking for tabs/chords etc.

Thanks all!

That’s it! That’s it! WoooooHooooo.

Thank you very much. I noticed something that the title is slightly different but that’s okay.

A Guinness in the Pub for you next time your in.

That’s the one song that made Gillian Welch get into bluegrass music.
