A few moments ago, I typed a lengthy comment to the string on the death penalty. I’m a poor typist, so it took a while. As I was looking it over, I hit a wrong key and started my browser on another function. My comment to the string was lost. Happened a couple of weeks ago too. No prodfound comments, just annoyed with myself for losing them. Oh well, maybe next time. I can think of several ways to avoid these losses, but too much care takes aways from the fun and/or stimulation of the board. AAAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!
I hate when that happens! ![]()
Better luck next time! ![]()
HeySue
I think that everybody on the board has suffered that occurence at some point or other.
Very annoying though…
Slan,

Yep. I keep trying to save changes while typing, and it just don’t work. ![]()
When I’m typing something that gets really long, I sometimes copy it to a text editor and finish it off there, with frequent saves along the way. Then I just copy it back into the C&F reply box.
I’ll highlight the text and use Ctrl/c periodically, and then if I need it, I just apply Ctrl/v to the message body display, and there it all is. Sometimes when I’m writing something lengthy, my modem disconnects for some reason, and the text gets wiped out if no form of text saving or copying is done. This is one way to keep it when I have to redial in to my server. ![]()
I’ve had that happen several times also. It’s quite frustrating. I’m with Darwin on this one. If it’s lengthy, I type it into word or some other program, save it and then copy/paste into the thread.
Speaking of Darwin . . . I thought he was supposed to be working or something. What’s he doing here?
Good to have you back, D. ![]()

Try this. If you’re writing a long message or response, every few minuutes use your mouse to highlight the whole thing to that point and then hit Ctrl-C to copy it to your cut-and-paste buffer. Then if you lose it for your reason, or for mine (stupid ISP that drops out wihout warning) all you’ll have to do is a Ctrl-V to get back everything you said up to your last save.

I just do it in one now and hope for the best…
