OK, I live in the Boondocks of Southeast Idaho. WE are a little short of Irishmen in this neck of the woods and I was wondering if anyone had opinions on the various online or CD tutorials available.
The two I’ve found are Scoiltrad and a CD Rom tutorial from Madfortrad.com
I’ve used Scoiltrad and was very pleasatly surprised by how well the “cybertutorial” method worked. Conal O’Grada really took the time to listen to my sound file and sent a very thorough and thoughtful assessment of my playing. I am impressed and I would argue that, for $20, it’s worth a try, easpecially in rural Idaho!
Hi Doc,
I have the Mad for Trad tutorial, I personally think it’s worth the money. It starts you off with the scale, then airs, basic reels, ornamented reels, through to advanced etc. Seamus Egan is the tutor but as someone else pointed out it does’nt teach you to play in Egan’s style (whatever that is, I don’t know enough to comment) but for someone learning it would’nt matter. If you want more information i.e. what tunes are featured, let me know.
