From the auction listing: "You are bidding on a Hughes and McCleod Uilleann (Irish) bagpipe Chanter from Downpatrick. Please note this is for the Chanter only and there is no bag or bellows. I have contacted the makers and they have confirmed that they currently charge £460.00 for a new one. They have been making quality Uilleann pipes and chanters since 1978.
I paid quite a lot of money for this in the 1980s with a view to making my own practice set and learning to play but after all this time I still haven’t got round to it so it is time for it to go. As far as I can tell the reed is OK and both lower and upper octaves seem playable. There is an old but stable repair as shown in the picture with a couple of small nicks on the white part of the stock. These do not alter the playability of the chanter and are barely noticeable. I only mention them to portray an accurate description of the item.
There is a low reserve so someone may well get a bargain. I offer a no quibble full return (within 7 days of receipt) on the cost of this instrument provided it is returned in the same condition with reed intact but please note the buyer is responsible for the costs of postage/insurance, both ways."
