Forgive me if this has been posted before but what the heck is going on there? And WARNING!!! Don’t look if you don’t want to be looking up someone’s back passage!! Has the site been hijacked?
I don’t think I’ll ever recover!

Looks fine to me?! That is - if it’s http://www.thesession.org you mean ![]()
Best wishes,
Brian
Hmmm. . .it appears my bookmark has been highjacked! Off to investigate further (shudder)
OK, even if I type in www.thesession.org instead of using the bookmark I get diverted to the infamous, apparently, goatse image. (info courtesy of wikipedia) Ugh. I run spysweeper daily and anti-virus nightly.
Is no one else getting this???
checked …no problem here. so it might be something on your side…

You almost certainly have a virus/spyware that reroutes your browser.
You can try using a different/updated spyware utility and virus checker
but worst case you may have to wipe your drive.
The only other thing I can think of is that your ISP’s DNS server has
been compromised, but I’ve never heard of this happening. Are any
other sites affected this way? (Obviously not C&F…)
If you really need to get there you could use the Google proxy hack:
http://www.google.com/translate?langpair=en|en&u=www.thesession.org
(assuming google isn’t also compromised…)
Or you could use the IP address of thesession.org directly:
http://66.216.73.96/
Tried the proxy but it got me stalled on the “Translating” page. The IP address took me straight to the the Goatse image again. My spyware is updated, my Antivirus updated. I ran both to no avail. No other sites seem to be compromised.
I’m finding this extremely peculiar!
What’s the numeric IP address you’re getting directed to?
That is really odd.
Try using a different browser (Firefox is free, for example) or if you’re already using Firefox try it in Internet Explorer.
If you get Firefox, do not download new versions, they will delete themselves, atleast on my computer and one of my friends.
Something odd is going on, then; Firefox 1.5 works fine for me. Better check your machine!
well, there is always SOMETHING going on at The Session!
Download the (free) utilities Spybot and Adaware. Run them both, particularly the immunisation option in Spybot. This stops your browser from being hijacked (but it may be too late to apply it).
If you have one of these browser hijack infestations, it may be very difficult to remove, even with the aforesaid tools. If they don’t work, try HijackThis, and be prepared to spend some time in forums (is that fora?).
I use Deepnet usually so I switched to Internet Explorer. Still there. I checked my partner’s computer and it’s there too which makes me think it might be our server that was hacked into? I use Spysweeper.
How do I find the IP address of the site?
From a command prompt, type “ping www.thesession.org” without the quotes. It should return this IP address: 66.216.73.96 then you can paste the IP into your browser. Since you say that another computer is giving the same results, I suspect that your ISP has had it’s DNS stack compromised. DNS is the acronym for Domain Name Service, and allows us to type in a name instead of the IP address.
You’ve gotten beyond me, I fear. I haven’t a clue how to go about pinging!
XP
Start
Run
key in cmd press enter
Learn something new every day!
This is what I got: 66.116.109.62
Well Packie, you sertenly seems to be hijacked by something/somebody.
I had a similar problem som 2-3 months ago. It is pretty difficuld to get ridt of.
Actually I solved the problem the way Jumbuk tels about. Run Spybot and Adaware. Run HiJackthis and get a report from it. Find a forum that can help you to deciffer the report (belive me you will need that) and let them help you to solve the problem.
So search the net and find a forum that you will trust.
Good luck.

P. S. if you speak danish i know a great forum that will do the trick (helped me), perhaps any CF’ers know a forum elswhere. Where do you live? USA?
