?Well, Cindy and I will be going to Armagh tomorrow! It’s the Tommy Makem Song Festival. Last year it was great and was undoubtably the highlight of my year. Almost every night we had a song session until 7:00 AM or so. What do they say, if you go to bed before midnight you go to bed late, if after then your going to bed early??
I often missed the coach in the morning and had to take a cab to meet up with the tour.
One day we climbed Slieve Gullion, a mystical mountain in the Ring Of Gullion in South Armagh. There is a haunted lake at the top that if you swim in it your hair will turn white. ![]()
My avatar is of Dara Vallely in last year’s festival. He is in costume with a lot of others as his group called the Armagh Rhymers. We were out at the Makem Farm observing the dedication of a standing stone called the Emigration Stone. It was erected in 2000 in honor of all who have emigrated from Ireland to any place on earth. Anyway, I will try and send a post or two from the hotel.
