Can anyone tell me where to find chords for the tune Carolan’s Ramble to Cashel? My wife usually can add chords to tunes. (She plays harp). But what she’s come up with is not working well. Can’t find anything on the web.

To me it looks like a version of “Carolan’s Quarrel with Landlady”, played by the Chieftains. You may try to transcribe their record. Anyway, this tune must not be to difficult to harmonize, the only problem are repeating phrases at the ends of parts, where you have to decide, where to play VI minor7 and where I maj- both variants are working. The rest is just another major tune.

Just in passing I’d have thought about a different set of chords thought there’s nothing wrong with the ones suggested. That’s the joy/problem with Carolan. What you decide on depends on how you decide to interpret the music.
We play it with a harper friend of ours. I know she’s recorded it on at least one CD – I’ll try to remember to look when I get home to see if there are chords on my sheet music. It is indeed a different tune from “O’Carolan’s Quarrel,” though we play the two in a set. I never know which is which
