O.T.: Fiddle Forum??

Anyone know of the existence of a forum where fiddle’s and fiddle music is discussed??

www.thesession.org is pretty fiddle-heavy. If you are looking to discuss bowing patterns, regional fiddle styles, or gold-dust rosin, you’ll fit right in.

Thanks Bloomfield ~ appreciate it!

The fiddle forum is quite popular with fiddlers specifically, as opposed to violinists, and it’s British based (waves flag, blows fanfare) but with a lot of activity from American fiddlers.

I also check 8 notes:

and the violin forum:

http://www.violins.on.ca/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/forumdisplay.cgi

fairly regularly, but the latter two are often just beginner questions and “how much is my Strad worth” enquiries. Always worth checking though, interesting threads come up from time to time.

Maerstronet:

is rinteresting and long established, but I often find it very slow to load for no understandable reason. A lot of luthiers & traders chat on Fiddle Forum & Maestronet, I’d say they’re the most adult of these sites.

The strings magazine discussion forum is also worth checking occasionally

There was a fiddle forum on Gaelic Crossings, but it didn’t generally move much last time I checked which, admittedly, was some time ago.

There are a couple of fiddle discussion groups (Mandolin Cafe, Yahoo, etc.) mentioned on the ITMS site at http://www.worldtrad.org under the category INSTRUMENT->FIDDLE.
