I’m expecting to visit home, The Bronx, the last weekend of June.
It’s been years, so which sessions are going on either in the City or Bronx or Westchester/Yonkers, etc, these days?
Gordon?
Thanks!
I haven’t been out to a session in months, David; often, the location and/or players are gone when I finally get around to them. Lately, I’ve been spending more of my time on early flute music, so..
Here’s a link (though often out-dated) that may work as a starting point for things happening in the New York area: http://www.inx.net/~mardidom/rcnycal.htm
Give me a post when you’re in town, though; maybe I can join you on a night out!
One correction to the list in the site provided above by Gordon. The Right Bank cafe was sold a few months ago, so there is no longer a session at that location.
Oh, I’m sure there’s lots of corrections needed here. As the economy hasn’t been too great, especially in NYC, some of these pubs are gone. Others have simply stopped their sessions, and musicians are a pretty transient bunch anyway. But, then, of course, new ones come up; I know a few that aren’t on the list, if, of course, they’re still happening. I’m a little out of the loop, as I said before, but if/when David (or anyone else) gets near NYC, I can ask around for them and see what’s happening for real. The link is still a good start, anyway though, as these pubs can be called or visited, and all of them still open have Guinness (and no more smoke, or so I hear!)
